Tea and Esophageal Cancer Risk

The following is a statement authored by the American Specialty Tea Alliance's Board of Directors. Last week, a study claiming that drinking hot tea may double the risk of esophageal cancer was published which set forth a wave of media activity claiming that drinking tea causes cancer. First, it is important to know that the cancer risk exists when consuming any hot beverage, such as coffee, soup, hot chocolate, etc., not just tea.
